Nursing Recognition at Baxter Regional Medical Center
Recognizing Exceptional Nursing at BRMC
Baxter Choice Awards
This is an annual recognition event held every year during Nurses'
Week. All BRMC staff have the opportunity to nominate a nurse who has
demonstrated excellence in their area of practice. These nurses exhibit
exemplary behaviors and go above and beyond caring for their peers and/or
patients. This is a special event for nursing to come together and celebrate
with their peers, friends, and family. From the nominations, the Baxter
Choice Award Committee chooses special recipients to receive the Servant's
Heart Award. The award is symbolic of their selfless giving to the profession
of nursing.

The
DAISY Award

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the
skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. It was established by the
DAISY Foundation (Diseases
Attacking the
Immune
SYstem) in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, after he died from complications
of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, his
parents deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and
his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank
you” to nurses in a very public way.
As quoted in The
DAISY White Paper,
Inspiring Nurses to See the Extraordinary in their Ordinary, “These nurses demonstrate a depth of understanding of what it means
to tune into the highly variable needs of people who are vulnerable and
suffering. These nurses are technically proficient, of course, but it
is their relational proficiency that moves the patient/family experience
into the realm of the extraordinary.”
Please say thank you to those at Baxter Regional who made a difference
you will never forget! Nominate a Baxter Regional Medical Center nurse
or team who cared for you or your family. A

Heroes with Halos
After receiving care at BRMC, many of our patients ask if they can express
their appreciation in some way. They may have noticed the special attention
of a nurse, physician, therapist, technician, food service worker, volunteer,
housekeeper or other caregivers during their stay or visit. A Heroes with
Halos Award is a way to recognize them, along with an honorarium to
Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation in any amount can be given to honor. The employee receives a certificate
and badge holder from one or more of the Senior Leadership Team. It is
a highly regarded award, and staff members are honored to receive it.
Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation has recently combined two of its employee recognition programs, Heroes
with Halos and The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Now, when you
nominate a nurse at Baxter Regional Medical Center for
Heroes with Halos, they will automatically be nominated for The
Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
