Community Houses

North Central Arkansas Healthcare Education

Baxter Health is home to three unique Community Health Education and Support Houses, often referred to as the Community Houses. Supported by Baxter Health Foundation funding, the majority of programs and services offered are free of charge to patients, families and community members.

  • Mruk Family Education Center on Aging hosts various programs of interest for the area’s senior citizens. The Center includes classrooms for educational topics such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's diseases, safe driving, care-giving assistance and much more. The Center also provides exercise groups for both men and women.
  • Peitz Cancer Support House is the first line of support for cancer patients, their families and friends. Numerous support groups, a resource library, wig and turban bank and smoking cessation classes are just a few of the services provided.
  • Schliemann Center for Women’s Health Education is impacting the lives of hundreds of women of all ages through support and education. Programs offered include Girls’ Night Out events, SCWHE Learning and health forums. Also included are childbirth and breastfeeding classes, Safe Sitter® classes and numerous support groups.
