BRMC has partnered with
Versant to provide a comprehensive educational foundation that will transition
newly graduated registered nurses from students to safe, competent professional
practitioners. The structure and standardization of the BRMC RN Residency
Program will include evidence-based content with clinical immersion to
positively impact both the competence and confidence of the RN Resident,
according to BRMC RN Residency Coordinator Wynne Woodard, MSN, ACNS-BC, NE, RN.
andldquo;Today’s nurses must come to their new hospital position with
a great many more skill sets than twenty years ago," stated Woodard
(left). “Computer skills are just one of many facets that are necessary
today in the course of providing excellent patient bedside care,”
she stated. “Twenty years ago, that was not part of the criteria
for being an exceptional nurse.”
Each hospital has their own unique culture and information system in place,
and BRMC strives to exceed both state and federal patient care guidelines
by ensuring that our nursing staff is exceptionally trained. The benefits
of this program extend way beyond just the RN Residents. Experienced staff
at BRMC will have the opportunity for professional development and personal
growth through various roles in the RN Residency Program to include preceptors,
mentors, debriefers and subject-matter experts.
The BRMC RN Residency Program is expected to launch this Fall. BRMC staff
and leadership are dedicated to forming a supportive network to ensure
the long term success and satisfaction of both our new and experienced
nursing staff. We take our mission to heart: to provide excellent care
for every patient, every time.
