Baxter Regional Medical Center to Close Two Clinics August 31

The Clinic at Walmart Operated by BRMC and Baxter Regional Rheumatology Clinic Closing

Baxter Regional Medical Center announced today that it will cease operations of two area clinics, The Clinic at Walmart operated by BRMC and Baxter Regional Rheumatology Clinic, both located in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Baxter Regional Medical Center informed Walmart of plans to close The Clinic at Walmart operated by BRMC effective August 31, 2018. “Closing a clinic might be one of the most difficult decisions a health system must ever have to make,” said David Fox, BRMC VP/Chief Operating Officer. “The area’s sufficient coverage of urgent care options and a closer alignment of strategic objectives led to the decision,” said Fox. The clinic will remain open until August 31, 2018, and patients are encouraged to continue to take advantage of the services offered at The Clinic at Walmart operated by BRMC until it closes.

Dr. Safwan Sakr of Baxter Regional Rheumatology Clinic recently notified Baxter Regional Medical Center that he has taken a position with another organization outside of our region effective August 31, 2018. “Dr. Sakr’s departure coupled with challenges in recruitment of a rheumatologist over the past few years led to the decision to close this clinic. We thank Dr. Sakr for his 15 years of service to the Baxter Regional Rheumatology Clinic and the community,” said Fox.

As Baxter Regional Medical Center prepares to close the doors of The Clinic at Walmart operated by BRMC and Baxter Regional Rheumatology Clinic, we are committed to doing whatever we can to help our patients and our employees during this time of transition.
