Journey Through Cancer - Tuesday, April 10 at 1 p.m.
Hearing problems can affect your quality of life. It is important to know
the effects that some cancers and cancer treatments may cause, including
mild to severe hearing loss and tinnitus. Relieving these and other side
effects is an important part of cancer care. Stacy Helmert, AuD, of Helmert
Hearing Clinic will discuss the effects of treatment on hearing during
this Journey Through Cancer group gathering.
Journey Through Cancer meets on the second Tuesday of every month. Each
cancer diagnosis begins a unique experience, and the path through treatment
is a unique journey. If you or someone you love is coping with cancer,
you can find comfort and strength through meeting with others at the PCSH.
Coffee & Conversations with Family & Friends - Wednesday, April 11 at 9 a.m.
During and after cancer treatment, you may benefit by making certain physical
changes to your home. These accommodations can make life easier and safer
during and after cancer treatment. Join us at Coffee & Conversations
with Family & Friends featuring guest speaker Jessica Brown, DPT,
discussing beneficial home modifications.
Coffee & Conversations with Family & Friends provides a group for
family members or friends of patients to learn more about treatments,
side effects and coping with a long term illness. Caring for a loved one
is an act of love, as it takes many skills and a great deal of energy.
Time spent with people who share information and experiences may give
you a sense that you are not alone, and you gain a special community of
friends who understands the importance of the job you do.
Nutrition: Before, During & After Treatment - Wednesday, April 18 at noon
Nutrition is an important part of cancer treatment. Eating the right kinds
of foods before, during, and after treatment can help you feel better
and stay stronger. Jan Halligan RD, LD, CDE, will be our special guest
speaker to discuss nutritional needs of cancer patients before, during
and after cancer treatment. Coping with treatment related side effects
related to appetite and nutrition will also be discussed.
This seminar is designed for patients, caregiver, family members and friends.
