Don't Miss These Upcoming Events at the Peitz Cancer Support House

Healthy Eating on a Budget

At the Thursday, January 24 meeting of the Healthy Eating Recipe Exchange Group, Jaren Beavers, Schliemann Center for Women's Health Education Coordinator, will discuss how to eat healthy on a budget. Studies show that eating a diet of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans combined with exercise can help you maintain a balanced and healthier lifestyle.

The Healthy Eating Recipe Exchange Group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. and is open to all men and women that are interested in eating healthy foods. This group provides for recipe exchange and discussion to encourage and promote healthy eating habits.

How to Cope with Metastatic Cancer

On Thursday, January 26 at noon, BRMC Chaplain Rev. Randy Ludwig will be a guest speaker at the Living with Metastatic Cancer Support Group meeting. He will discuss coping with metastatic cancer.

This group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at noon at the Peitz Cancer Support House and provides support and education to those who are dealing with advanced cancer. One of the biggest challenges during this time is uncertainty about what's ahead, and it helps to understand the options available and ways to cope.

Cervical Cancer Awareness

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Nearly 13,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year, but vaccination and appropriate screenings help to prevent it. Learn more about cervical cancer on Tuesday, January 31 at noon from guest speaker Amanda Thornton, APRN, of The Center for Women.
