July Childbirth and Breastfeeding Classes Scheduled

Attention expectant women and families: spots are still available for Childbirth and Breastfeeding Classes scheduled this month!

A Childbirth Class is scheduled for Saturday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This class is significant for expectant mothers and their support person (husband, significant other, friend or family member). Childbirth Class includes information on pregnancy and childbirth, pain management skills, breathing and relaxation techniques, comfort measures, birthing variations and options, the birth coachand#39;s role as well as infant care/postpartum care. It is best to schedule the class at weeks 30-32 of pregnancy. Click here to register online.

A Breastfeeding Class is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. and is a one-time session for expectant women (support person is encouraged to attend!) who are interested in breastfeeding. Information provided includes advantages of breastfeeding, getting started and what to expect, problem solving, breast pumping and going back to work and/or school. Click here to register online.

Both classes are held at the Schliemann Center for Women's Health Education on the BRMC campus. Cost is $10 for each class, and scholarships are available for those needing financial assistance.
