Each year, the Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation hosts Lend-A-Hand, a
campaign to enlist the communityand#39;s help in financially supporting
the Mruk Family Education Center on Aging, Peitz Cancer Support House,
Reppell Diabetes Learning Center and Schliemann Center for Women’s
Health Education.
This yearand#39;s Lend-a-Hand campaign included a live auction led by auctioneer
Chris Nosari, which raised over $30,000, a radio-thon hosted by KTLO/KCTT/The
Boot, a large gift from the BRMC Auxiliary, numerous business contributions
and a large mailing campaign- bringing the grand total raised to $162,246!
andldquo; Each of the four community health education and support houses fill
a huge need that exists in our Twin Lakes area,” stated Cindy Costa,
Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation Director of Development, “and
as a not-for-profit hospital, we rely on the generosity of our community
to keep the doors open.” These four houses are open to the public
from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the majority of
the programs and services are offered free of charge. In 2012, the community
houses helped over 16,000 people who were in need of information, education,
support and understanding.
andldquo;Whether it is learning more about how to control your diabetes,
cancer support, aging issues or anything related to women’s health
and well-being, we are here when you need us,” Costa said. A big
thanks to our community for their support!
