Active Lifestyle Institute Presents Free Seminar Featuring Dr. Win Moore
Board certified orthopaedic surgeon
M.B. Moore III, M.D., will be the guest speaker at a free seminar hosted by the Active Lifestyle
Institute of Baxter Regional Medical Center on Thursday, May 23 from noon
until 1 p.m. at the ASU-MH Vada Sheid Community Development Center.
Is hip replacement in your future?
Dr. Moore will be discussing the anterior approach to hip surgery that
he has mastered and recommends. Hip replacement is a surgery that replaces
diseased joint surfaces with implants. The direct anterior approach surgery
incision is made on the front (anterior) of the leg rather than the side
(lateral) or back (posterior) allowing the surgeon to work between the
muscles and tissues without detaching them from the hip or thigh bones.
This method of hip replacement surgery is less traumatic to the patientand#39;s
body, which can lead to faster rehabilitation and less post-operative
pain. The patient also has fewer restrictions during the recovery period.
How do you know if you might be a candidate for hip surgery? Ask yourself
the following questions:
- Does hip pain limit your activities and lifestyle?
- Is it difficult to perform daily tasks such as walking or housework?
- Does one leg feel shorter than the other?
- Do you experience pain in the thigh, groin or buttocks regions of your body?
- Have you been diagnosed with osteoarthritis (the leading cause of hip pain)?
If you have answered andldquo;yes” to any of these questions, this
is a seminar that should not be missed!
Reservations are required and can be made by calling Baxter Regional Bone
and Joint Associates at (870) 424-4710. Refreshments will be served.
