The 2013 Baxter Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Appreciation Banquet
was held on Monday, April 29, at the Baxter County Fairgrounds, in honor
of the 671 active volunteers who worked 117,773.50 hours in 2012, assisting
in a variety of capacities each and every day to support BRMC.
Becky Rose, Director of Volunteer Services expressed her heartfelt thanks
to all of those who donate so much of their time and talents whether it
be at the Bargain Box, Flippin Bargain Box, Pink-A-Dilly Gift Shop, registration/admission
area, community support and education houses or any where else they are
needed under the BRMC umbrella. In 2012, volunteers gave 117,773.50 hours
to the hospital.
Carolyn Hannon, Auxiliary President, welcomed all who attended the event
with BRMC Chaplain Tom Baker leading the invocation. Paul Mruk, Auxiliary
President-elect, began the Pledge of Allegiance with a touching memorial
to honor the twenty volunteers who passed way in the last year.
Special guest speaker Dr. David Lipschitz brought humor and honor to those
who so graciously donate their time and spoke of the benefits of volunteering,
one of which is prolonged life.
Hospital Board Chairman Ted Sanders extended thanks to state senators
Missy Irvin, Johnny Key and Representative Kelly Linck for their efforts
in helping the hospital.
BRMC President and CEO Ron Peterson shared his gratitude to all of the
volunteers and helped to install all the new BRMC Auxiliary Officers for
2013-2014, including Paul Mruk, President; Kathy Mills, President-Elect;
Judy Garrett, Vice-President; Judy Shaffer, Treasurer; Peggy Fazio, Assistant
Treasurer; Maureen Rozelle, Recording Secretary; Jean Adams, Corresponding
Secretary and Jill Chandler, Advisor.
