Vascular Diseases in North Central Arkansas
Effective Vascular Treatments
The Baxter Regional Medical Center vascular team was formed to promote
the optimal treatment of patients with vascular diseases. The goal is
a multidisciplinary approach where the surgeons, endovascular doctors,
nurses, physical therapists and other support staff all work together
to provide high quality treatment for each patient. You can trust the
skilled medical professionals at BRMC to help you get the treatment you need.
Our Medical Team
Vascular surgeons at BRMC perform specialized bypass surgeries and other
operations necessary for patients with blood flow problems. Our endovascular
team specialize in minimally invasive procedures such as angiograms, balloon
angioplasty and the placement of stents traditionally used to treat blocked
vessels. They also are trained in cutting-edge techniques such as laser
and mechanical atherectomy to remove blockages.
Several vascular diseases our skilled doctors have extensive experience
with include:
- Peripheral artery disease – when plaque builds up in an artery, thereby
disrupting blood flow
- Carotid artery disease – complications with the carotid artery
- Venous disease – complications with a valve inside a vein, leading
to blood flow issues
- Blood clots – when blood coagulates inside the body, often causing
severe symptoms
- Aortic aneurysm – abnormal bulge in a blood vessel’s wall
State-of-the-art Technology
The technology at BRMC includes the latest imaging equipment, such as a
64-slice CT scanner, 3-D MRI system and vascular ultrasound. There are
12 operating rooms and two cath lab suites.
Diseases commonly treated by the vascular team include peripheral vascular
disease (poor blood flow to the legs), abdominal aortic aneurysms and
renal artery stenosis (poor blood flow to the kidneys).
