Helping Residents of North Arkansas & South Missouri
For an Occupational Therapy appointment, please contact Baxter Regional
Rehab Services at (870) 508-1560 after you have been referred by a physician.
As defined by the
American Occupational Therapy Association, occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live
life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent - or live
better with - injury, illness, or disability.
The occupational therapists at Baxter Regional Medical Center focus on
the functional and social needs of patients, which if left unaddressed
can contribute to hospitalization, re-hospitalization or further injury.
We offer evidence-based and customized services to help patients improve
their ability to achieve their goals. This means our occupational therapists,
in cooperation with the patient, look at the entire person and their environment
to create and execute a comprehensive plan of care.
Each occupational therapy practice setting has a different area of focus
depending on life stage and patient needs. Baxter Regional offers several
specific settings in which to serve our community: Acute Care, Inpatient
Rehabilitation, Home Health, and Outpatient Rehabilitation.
- Acute Care Occupational Therapists perform expert evaluations and make
detailed suggestions regarding a patient’s next step in the recovery process.
- Inpatient Rehabilitation Occupational Therapists work together with hospitalized
patients to make and achieve goals that maximize current self-care abilities.
- Home Health Occupational Therapists partner with homebound patients to
discover their unique challenges and facilitate a safe and successful
return to their home and their community.
- Outpatient Rehabilitation Occupational Therapists offer support for patients
who are mobile community members to further refine and develop abilities
in the home and in the community.
All Baxter Regional occupational therapists in their respective practice
settings work closely with the patient. We discover the kinds of activities
a patient needed and wanted to perform prior to hospitalization, illness,
or injury, and then work with the patient to create and achieve goals
to successfully return them to those activities. Therapists also work
as part of a team to determine patient needs for the next step in their
personal recovery process. Common next steps include discharge destination
(Home Health, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing Facility, Outpatient
Rehabilitation, etc.), adaptive equipment and/or environmental modification
requirements and community support needs.
