Ways to Give
On a mission
Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation formed as a nonprofit organization in 1988 with a mission to raise money to keep our community healthy. The foundation supports the services and efforts of Baxter Regional Medical Center, which provides care for more than 89,000 people living in 14 counties in Arkansas and Missouri.
Regardless of ability to pay, Baxter Regional Medical Center turns no one away. This leaves the hospital to absorb more than $8 million in unpaid medical bills each year. The need for support from donors is more important than ever. Your contributions provide extra services and programs the hospital cannot support with the annual budget.
How we help
Here are a few examples of how the money raised through Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation helps your community:
- Two women, Ruth Elizabeth Anderson and Mary Jane Downes, left their life savings to the foundation to establish the Anderson-Downes Endowment to educate the health professionals of tomorrow. In just two years, the foundation has awarded more than $320,000 in scholarships to 100 nursing and paramedic students and emergency medical technicians.
- Turning dimes into dollars, the foundation raised $350,000 to enable BRMC to purchase a Mobile Mammography Unit. This special unit takes mammography services to women who live in rural areas of Arkansas and lack the resources to drive to the hospital or pay for a mammogram. - A generous gift from Peter Peitz paved the way for the Peitz Cancer Support House. In just two years, the Peitz Cancer Support House has helped more than 330 cancer patients and their families survive the emotional struggle of cancer by offering weekly support group meetings and educational seminars.
How is money raised
Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation raises money through a variety of special events and appeals. The foundation works hand-in-hand with Baxter Regional Medical Center administrators and community leaders to identify needs and resources. The foundation board comprises 25 members who represent a diversity of professions and community interests.
Making a difference on the job
Working at Baxter Regional Medical Center is about much more than earning a paycheck. For the 1,200 employees at BRMC, helping those in need is a passion, not just a job. Each April, employees kick off the Employee Fund Drive to raise money for special projects such as the Employee Crisis Fund, the Mountain Home Christian Clinic, which provides medical and dental services for low-income families, and the purchase of new hospital equipment.
How you can help
There are several ways you can help keep your community healthy. You may choose to contribute cash, stocks, bonds or real estate to Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation. Your gift will help provide medical care to those who are less fortunate, while also providing you with a tax deduction and nonprofit investment incentives.
A gift of love
Recognize someone you love or a person who has made a difference in your life. Many people choose to remember a loved one by making a financial gift to the foundation in lieu of flowers. The foundation acknowledges each gift with a letter to the family and the contributor.
A gift that keeps on giving
Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation seeks and welcomes contributions from individuals to help provide long-term funding for the hospital. Donors may make gifts to this fund in several forms, including immediate gifts of cash, securities, real estate, life insurance and personal property, or through planned gifts, charitable remainder trusts and bequests.
