- Ron Peterson becomes BRMC president and CEO.
- BRMC Ambulance is named the EMT-Paramedic Emergency Medical Service of the Year by EMS Magazine and the National Association of EMTs.
- BRMC is named one of the nation’s top performance-improvement leader hospitals by Thomson Healthcare.
- BRMC receives the Sperduto Award for Highest Employee Satisfaction.
- Hospice Volunteer Coordinator Jan Heine retires after 16 years with Hospice of the Ozarks.
- BRMC Auxiliary purchases a new hydrotherapy pool for the physical therapy department.
- BRMC participates in countywide disaster drill.
- Security cameras are installed around the hospital.
- Backpack drive helps 172 area children with back-to-school needs.
Highlights of 2008
- Carolyn Hannon is named Auxilian of the Year by the Arkansas Hospital Association.
- The Bargain Box opens a branch in Flippin.
- The Peek-A-Bootique, offering gently used baby and maternity items, opens on the Mountain Home Square.
- The Christmas wreath silent auction wins the fundraising award from the Arkansas Hospital Association.
- BRMC Auxiliary is tops in the state in volunteer hours, second in the state in donations and second in number of members.
- The emergency department becomes known as the Cline Emergency Center following a donation by auxiliary member Betty Cline and her family. With the new name comes a new look, additional space and more streamlined services.
- The Women’s Health Education Center is renamed the Schliemann Center for Women’s Health Education after Josee Schliemann, who also gives her time in service on the Women’s Health Advisory Board.
- BRMC President and CEO Ron Peterson is named Administrator of the Year by the Arkansas Hospital Association.
- Risk Manager Sandy Priebe, RN, MSN, is appointed to the State Nursing Board.
- Preparation continues for Electronic Medical Records to be available in each patient room by April 2009. Cerner Corporation’s “Smart Semi” gives a view of a hospital room with electronic medical records.
- BRMC employees help with the Convoy of Hope, a communitywide effort to help those in need, and continue to support the Mountain Home Christian Clinic.
- BRMC participates in a countywide disaster drill.
- The Ambulance Department helps with hurricane relief in Louisiana.
- Thanks to the generosity of BRMC employees, 237 children were able to start to school with new backpacks and supplies.
- Chief Nursing Officer Margaret Fielding retires after 25 years at BRMC.
- The BRMC Guest House becomes the home of North Central Area Health Education Center (AHEC).
