Vascular Diseases
Vascular team offers latest techniques
The BRMC vascular team was formed to promote the optimal treatment of patients with circulation problems in the abdomen and legs. The goal is a multidisciplinary approach where the surgeons, endovascular doctors, nurses, physical therapists and other support staff all work together to provide the best treatment for each patient.
Our medical team
Vascular surgeons at BRMC perform specialized bypass surgeries and other operations necessary for patients with blood flow problems.
Our endovascular specialists include Dr. Michael Camp, an interventional cardiologist with specialty training in peripheral vascular disease, and Dr. Matt Wilson, a fellowship-trained interventional radiologist. They specialize in minimally invasive procedures such as angiograms, balloon angioplasty and the placement of stents traditionally used to treat blocked vessels.
They also are trained in cutting-edge techniques such as laser and mechanical atherectomy to remove blockages.
State-of-the-art technology
The technology at BRMC includes the latest imaging equipment, such as a 64-slice CT scanner, 3-D MR system and ultrasound, in addition to MRI and CT scan devices. BRMC is in the process of acquiring 3-D contrast angiography technology. There are 10 operating rooms and three endovascular suites.
Diseases treated by the vascular team include peripheral vascular disease (poor blood flow to the legs), abdominal aortic aneurysms and renal artery stenosis (poor blood flow to the kidneys).
