Peitz Cancer Support House

About the Peitz Cancer Support House

The Peitz Cancer Support House is a homelike facility for cancer patients and their families. Our purpose is to provide high-quality services close to the patient’s home, in a setting that is focused on patient support. This is the area’s first line of support for cancer patients, and their families and friends. We are here to support you, from diagnosis through treatment.

Services and tools include:

  • Support sessions
  • Internet access to cancer websites
  • Education brochures
  • Lending library
  • Wig and turban bank
  • Video and audio tapes
  • Breast prosthesis
  • Ostomy supplies

Support sessions

Weekly or monthly support sessions encourage open discussion and education. Trained staff and volunteers facilitate group sessions. All services and support sessions are available free of charge.

Resource Library

The library offers free Internet access for the most current cancer information, as well as books relating to cancer topics, including coping with the disease, healing, humor and encouragement. Video and audio tapes may be used at the Support House or borrowed for home use.

Wig bank/prosthesis room

For clients experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatments, the Peitz Cancer Support House has a wig bank and turbans for patient use. This room also has breast forms, bras and ostomy supplies. A private setting is ensured so that patients can carefully select the supplies that best suit their individual needs.

Educational seminars

Throughout the year, the Peitz Cancer Support House offers free educational classes and seminars on a variety of cancer-related topics. The role of nutrition, physical activity in healing, spiritual healing, and prevention and early detection of cancer are featured.

Hours of service

Monday – Friday
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

FREE support group meetings and other activities are held at various times of the day and evening. A staff member or volunteer will be available weekdays during regular business hours to answer questions about events and activities.
