Baxter Regional Wound Healing Center

At the Baxter Regional Wound Healing Center, we believe that no one should have to live with an open sore. The Baxter Regional Wound Healing Center is staffed with an experienced team of doctors, nurses and therapists dedicated to healing chronic wounds through advanced would-care technologies. We are experts at caring for people whose open sores have not responded to traditional treatment, with a success rate of 80 percent of wounds healed in 12-16 weeks.

As part of Baxter Regional’s dedication to technology, the Wound Healing Center now offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help improve healing. During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a patient spends up to two hours in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber receiving highly oxygenated air. The chamber is pressurized with 100 percent oxygen, which is 20 to 30 times more oxygen than we normally breathe. This saturation of oxygen in the body’s tissues promotes new tissue development, increased white blood cell activity, reduced infection rates and edema, and the formation of new blood vessels to promote permanent healing.

Every wound is the result of a complex and unique set of circumstances. Other health problems often complicate wound care, such as postsurgical infection, diabetes or traumatic injuries. Our physicians and staff have expertise in treating patients with a wide variety of wounds and illnesses. Whatever it takes, the Baxter Regional Wound Healing Center is equipped to treat your wounds, with most treatments covered by Medicare and Medicaid, HMOs and other private insurance plans.

The physicians and staff at the Baxter Regional Wound Healing Center are ready to work with your primary-care physician and other specialists to develop the best course of treatment and get you on the road to recovery. Our physician-driven wound care and individualized treatment plans take into account all aspects of the patient’s current health and medical history. The staff will help you and your family members understand the process of wound healing, describe and explain what is happening every step of the way, chart your progress as you move through the treatment process, and give you all the information and advice you need once your treatment is complete. After your discharge, we will follow up with you and your physician to ensure that your outcome was successful.

Physicians at the center include Dr. Kent Nachtigal, medical director; Dr. Ray Stahl; Dr. Adam Newman; Dr. Jacob Dickinson; Dr. Jamie Pritchard; Dr. John Spore; Dr. Dan Swoyer; and Dr. Michelle Godfrey. Staff members include Program Director Tammy Mitchell, LPN; Rhonda Parsons, LPN; Christina Leonard, office coordinator; Bobbie Burchard, CNM; Isaac Gaston, RN; Janice Herd, LPN; and Jamie Manes, LPN.
